There
is a desire among the Palestinian
Authority leadership to place their
capitol in east Jerusalem. Is Jerusalem
the capitol of the so-called
Palestinians or the capitol of Israel?
History
clearly shows that David founded
Jerusalem and that Solomon, his son,
built the first of two great Temples to
the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
It stood for centuries until it was
destroyed in 586 B.C. Recent excavations
on the site have uncovered a wall,
archaeologists say dates to Solomon's
Jewish Temple. These remnants of the
Temple lend credence to Israel's claim
that the Temple Mount is the site of
this massive and beautiful Temple built
to the glory of God.
Many wonder if America is currently
under God's blessing. Or are we not? As
our leaders travel to Israel in an
attempt to move the Roadmap to Peace
forward, it would be wise of them to
heed this scriptural warning:
"There I will enter into judgment
against them concerning my inheritance,
my people Israel, for they scattered my
people among the nations and divided up
my land." Joel 3:2b.
We must remember that the PLO Charter
to this day still calls for the
destruction of Israel.
Scripture speaks of the dilemna that
Jerusalem presents to the world.
"I am going to make Jerusalem a cup
that sends all the surrounding peoples
reeling. Judah will be besieged as well
as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the
nations of the earth are gathered
against her, I will make Jerusalem an
immovable rock for all the nations.
All who try to move it will injure
themselves.... On that day I will set
out to destroy all the nations that
attack Jerusalem. And I will pour out
on the house of David and the
inhabitants
of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and
supplication. They will look on me, the
one they have pierced and they will
mourn for him as one mourns for an only
child, and grieve bitterly for him as
one grieves for a firstborn son."
Zechariah 12: 2-3 and 9-10.
Friends, we must remember to "Pray for
the peace of Jerusalem: May those who
love you be secure." Psalm 122:6. Even
as we pray for peace, we know that only
when Yeshua, the Prince of Peace, comes
to place his feet on the Mount of Olives
in Jerusalem will this troubled land see
the fulfillment of the true peace we are
eagerly awaiting.
